Why I'm Running for the Oregon House

After 35 years of public service, both personally and professionally, I find myself ready, willing, able and excited to run for the House of Representatives and continue serving my community here in Gresham. IMG_4469.jpg

First as a police officer, later as a police chief, and now as a school board member, I am ready to be the leader in Salem that Gresham needs. Our community has overcome many challenges and is well-positioned to thrive in the coming years, and I want to serve my friends, family and neighbors in the Legislature to ensure that it does.

I have seen our community deal with difficult issues concerning public safety, education, and economic opportunity, and emerge from them stronger. While we still facing challenges, we are ready to grow. As your Representative, my focus will be making sure working Oregonians have the support they need to raise our next generation and restore our middle class.

As I enter this political arena, I have set three priorities:

Public Safety: Keeping our communities safe by maintaining strong programs and funding for the Criminal Justice System

Education: Providing all our kids a first class education by advocating for a well-funded and safe environment for learning.

Family Success: Advocating for working class families by supporting programs & policies designed to prevent and reduce poverty.

My public safety background, my passion for our kids and schools, and lifelong commitment to community service fuel my drive and excitement for this run to the Oregon House of Representatives. Gresham is dear to me, it is were I have worked, raised my daughter, and the place I've called home for the past 35 years. I ask for your support and would be honored to serve Gresham as your State Representative.

Sincerely,

Carla Piluso
